Payroll Specialist (1661)
The Payroll Specialist reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for processing complete and accurate payroll in a timely manner. This individual will help the Accounting Manager build out efficient and standardized payroll processes. This includes developing, implementing, and/or maintaining payroll processes to consistently, accurately, and completely account for the numerous payroll transactions in a timely and controlled-risk manner. Individual will prepare, reconcile, and analyze payroll data and records. Individual will assist in ensuring that all payroll policies, procedures, and controls are strictly adhered to throughout the organization. This position ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of payroll data and acts as liaison between the Company and external parties (e.g. vendors, team members, surgeons, investors, auditors, or other service professionals).
Essential Functions:
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll distribution.
- Update payroll records by reviewing and approving or seeking the appropriate approval for changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Maintain confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Stay informed about federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices, as well as internal policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including withholding and reporting.
- Prepare and file payroll-related tax documents.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and answers team member inquiries.
- Investigate and resolve payroll-related issues or concerns.
- Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Generate and analyze payroll reports for management.
- Provide financial data for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
- Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Communicate changes in payroll policies and procedures to team members or Surgeons.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related discipline required.
Experience:
- 3+ years progressive payroll experience, required.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel. Ability to manipulate Excel files to proper format for importing data.
- Proficient with import files- including timecard data, bonuses, and expense reimbursements.
- FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is not required, but strongly preferred.
- Proficient with payroll software. Experience with Paycor payroll system is a huge plus.

Compensation:
- $50-75,000 depending on experience level plus bonus package and potential sign-on bonus.
