Position: Senior Associate
Our Client : A St. Louis-based private equity firm that acquires lower middle-market manufacturing and distribution businesses located in the greater Midwestern United States. The investment team has over 50 years of combined experience with a track record of acquiring over 40 companies and helping them grow and succeed. Our Client is a licensed Small Business Investment Company (“SBIC”) investing from its $75 million inaugural fund and is actively raising it’s second fund.
The Senior Associate will work directly with the firm’s leadership across all aspects of deal sourcing, deal review and diligence, new investments and associated financings, and portfolio company oversight and management.
Experience:
The ideal Senior Associate candidate will have ties to the region and possess 4 – 6years of work experience in (a) private equity or private credit, (b) investment banking, (c)accounting / transaction advisory, or (d) management consulting.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to read, analyze and interpret company financial statements
• Demonstrated prior transaction experience
• Extreme proficiency at Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly and accurately create LBO financial models and operating models
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
• Demonstrated knowledge of credit terms and capital structures
• Outstanding organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline driven environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
• Strong presentation skills (both oral and written); able to deliver compelling and concise presentations
• Self-motivated professional with strong work ethic and interest in investing and business strategy
• Ability to work as a member of a small team handling a wide range of responsibilities
• Bachelor’s degree required
Job Description:
The Senior Associate will participate across the firm’s investment and business development activities, with a primary emphasis on the following areas:
• Perform industry research, due diligence and associated analyses related to prospective and existing investments
• Review and analyze financial statements, business operating trends and relevant industry data
• Prepare and review financial analyses, including LBO models, detailed operating models, and investment valuation materials
• Prepare written summaries, due diligence packages, presentation materials, investment memorandums, and investor communications
• Manage processes coordinating and supporting transaction structuring, financing and execution
• Communicate and coordinate with external transaction sources, financing sources and management teams
• Support and assist with investment oversight and fund operations and reporting
This role has a compensation program of base(mid $100’s) , bonus(20%) and benefits that are commensurate with this level of hire. This role also has a potential one time relo allowance for a person that has ties to the St Louis marketplace.
