Manager, Compensation Accounting (1779)
The Manager of Compensation Accounting is responsible for owning the calculation, administration, and accounting of commissions and billable bonus plans. This role is the business owner for incentive compensation accounting—ensuring commissions, bonuses, and stock-based compensation are calculated accurately, accrued timely, paid correctly, and supported by strong documentation and controls.
In addition to incentive compensation, the role oversees related payroll and benefits accounting and serves as the primary point of contact for auditors for all compensation-related matters. This is a hands-on role for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in detail-heavy, deadline-driven environments.

Responsibilities
Commission & Billable Bonus Administration and Accounting
- Own end-to-end calculation and administration of commission and billable bonus plans.
- Review commission and bonus inputs, calculations, and outputs for accuracy and completeness.
- Partner with Sales Operations, HR, and Payroll to resolve discrepancies, plan changes, and employee inquiries.
- Maintain accounting support for commission agreements and incentive plan documentation.
- Ensure incentive calculations align with plan terms, employment status, and eligibility rules.
Payroll, Benefits, & Close Accounting
- Oversee payroll-related accounting including accruals, journal entries, reconciliations, and reclasses.
- Review and approve payroll journals, clearing accounts, and liability balances.
- Ensure payroll expenses are accurately recorded by cost center and legal entity.
- Oversee accounting for employee benefits, prepaid expenses, and accruals.
- Own reconciliations for all compensation-related balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain strong internal controls and audit-ready documentation.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of accounting experience with significant hands-on experience in commission and incentive compensation.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP related to compensation, payroll, and benefits.
- Experience supporting month-end close and external audits.
- Advanced Excel skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Preferred:
- CPA or equivalent certification.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience in professional services or sales-driven organizations.
- Familiarity with commission management, payroll, and incentive compensation systems.
Compensation: $100-$115,000 base plus bonus and excellent corporate benefits.
