Accounting Manager (1783)

We are seeking a highly organized and discreet Accounting Manager to manage the day-to-day accounting operations of a closely held organization and its affiliated family office. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this person will own the accounting close, multi-entity payroll, bill pay, and recordkeeping across several related entities. The CFO retains primary responsibility for technical accounting, financial planning, and reporting, so this role is built around reliability, accuracy, and absolute confidentiality rather than independent high-level financial leadership.
Job Description:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting across multiple related entities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank and credit-card reconciliations.
  • Process and oversee payroll for all entities (Paylocity) and coordinate timely, accurate payroll tax filings and related compliance.
  • Handle bill pay and recurring disbursements for the family.
  • Track and record gifts, personal and household expenses, and intercompany activity in an organized, audit-ready manner.
  • Maintain books and records in QuickBooks, and property/real-estate records in Yardi.
  • Prepare timely, accurate financial schedules and reports for CFO review.
  • Support the annual audit and tax preparation, responding to requests from external CPAs, legal counsel, and other advisors.
  • Help maintain and strengthen internal controls, including payment approval workflows and appropriate segregation of duties.
  • Partner closely with the CFO on accounting operations, flagging issues proactively and keeping a clean, well-documented set of books.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • CPA, or progress toward CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience, including multi-entity work.
  • Hands-on payroll processing experience.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Yardi, Paylocity, and Microsoft preferred.
  • Experience in a family office, wealth management, private/high-net-worth, or closely held business environment preferred.
  • Exposure to real estate accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage many moving parts independently, accurately, and on deadline.
  • A proven record of handling highly confidential financial information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize work requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with an attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
