Senior Finance & Accounting Analyst (1656)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Assumes responsibility for assisting in the development of effective accounting policies and procedures.
- Assists the Finance Function in developing long and short-run budgeting and operational goals and objectives for the Accounting Department.
- Develops, recommends, and implements budgeting and operational plans, policies, and procedures which further Company objectives.
- Continually evaluates established systems, budgets, and accounting policies and procedures and modifies or updates them as necessary. Ensures that policies are in accordance with changing regulations, legal requirements, and industry trends.
- Supervises the development and implementation of budgetary and financial reporting and control systems and provides recommendations for improvement.
- Assists the Controller in ensuring that proper accounting controls are in place.
Assists with and improves FP&A Function
- Serves as a key player in FP&A function, including financial analysis, forecasting, and product line profitability analyses.
- Responsible for preparation of monthly and quarterly BOD materials, as assigned by CFO.
Assumes responsibility for the Company’s effective and accurate completion of accounting recording and reporting functions.
- Oversees preparation of periodic financial statements, records, and reports, including payables, receivables, billings, and other working-capital needs.
- Ensures that records, statements, and reports are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and government regulations.
- Ensures that external document submissions and filings (including tax returns) are accurate and timely.
- Performs and oversees special studies for management, including ratio and trend analyses, and other comparative examinations.
- Oversees the design and development of new accounting information systems. Reviews current systems and implements improvements in operational and security procedures.
- Ensures that records retention functions conform to legal regulations.
Assumes responsibility for the effective and accurate completion of budget functions.
- In charge of preparation and monitoring of budgeting.
- Gathers and researches financial information from departments and senior management.
Maintains the Company’s cost and project accounting functions.
- Maintains automated accounting applications for tracking Company income and expenses for budget, pricing, and costing purposes.
- Performs analyses in support of Company pricing decisions.
- Completes cost analyses for capital improvement projects and other changes proposed by the Company.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication with Company personnel and with management.
- Assists and advises department managers in handling issues surrounding accounting, budgeting, analyses, and reporting.
- Coordinates functions with other departments to convey and obtain required information.
- Assists and supports Company personnel. Responds to accounting questions and information needs.
- Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
- Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required. Prepares presentations for the Board of Directors and Senior Management.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective business relations with vendors, outside auditors, and with professional trade groups.
- Serves as a liaison between the Company and external auditors.
- Represents the Company with various trade professionals and groups.
- Ensures that the Company’s professional reputation is maintained.
Assists with Treasury Function
- Serves as a key player in treasury function, including working capital management, funds disbursements and receipts, and forecasting.
- Serves as Controller back-up for cash transacting and debt service.
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Stays informed of trends and changes in the budgeting area, cost accounting area, and accounting field.
- Ensures that the department work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Replaces the Controller as needed.
- Ensures that appropriate levels of confidentiality and security are maintained.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
- Financial and budget statements, records, and reports are accurate and timely. Management is provided with useful and informative reports and data. The Company’s financial position is accurately conveyed.
- Costing and pricing analyses are accurate and complete and effectively support decision making.
- External reports, records, and tax documents are accurate and filed timely.
- Budgeting, operational policies and procedures, and accounting systems information is regularly reviewed and modified as needed.
- Accounting functions are completed in accordance with established policies, standards, and legal requirements.
- Positive business relations exist with auditors, government officials, and trade professionals.
- Good communication and effective working relations exist with other departments. Assistance is provided as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field.
- Master’s degree, CPA (Inactive is fine), and/or CMA designation helpful
Required Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of advanced financial accounting practices and procedures.
- Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, government regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Basic knowledge of advanced budgeting, costing, pricing, and forecasting practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with related auditing and data processing functions.
- Understanding of automated accounting applications.
- Knowledge of Company operations and information flow
- Understanding of financing transactions.
- Understanding of Technical accounting, namely, Leases and Revenue Recognition.
Experience Required:
- 1-plus years of Public Accounting or 2-plus financial accounting experience required
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage and coordinate projects with multiple individuals and departments.
- Well organized.
Compensation:
- $70-80,000 plus bonus and excellent benefit package
