Director of Financial Planning & Analysis
Job Summary & Functions:
Reporting to the CFO, the Director of FP&A will be responsible for overseeing, driving and supporting all aspects of financial planning and analysis for the functional areas of budgeting, performance reporting and financial forecasting in meeting the reporting requirements of the business. In addition this position will focus on analysis of consolidated, regional, and stand-alone P&L’s and driving greater insight into current revenue and cost trends as well as free cash flow, working capital, and liquidity forecasting. This will include developing models to analyze price, mix, profitability trends by region, line of business, and key customers as well as providing financial guidance, reporting and tracking financial performance of initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform financial and non-financial analysis designed to monitor and identify trends in the Company’s operational performance, expense performance, working capital, cash, etc. Communicate trends to management as appropriate in a timely and concise manner.
- Oversee and responsible for budgeting (to include ongoing strategic analysis and review) and forecasting processes and systems, including internal reporting of forecast (cash flow, balance sheet, income statement) results using standard reporting mechanisms and reports. This goes beyond just relying on other functions to provide data but rather to work in a collaborative effort with the functions. Requires coordination with cross-functional team members.
- Coordinate month end close meetings with all the regions in reviewing the month-end results with actual to budget variance analysis.
- Ability to present at an executive level, on a monthly basis, the results of the business, performance against plan and prior year as well as further opportunities for productivity. This will require having a solid understanding of the Company’s business and being able to provide guidance on future performance. Analysis should include customer, product line, and SKU profitability.
- Demonstrate leadership capabilities across a geographically dispersed team.
- Provide guidance and leadership support to multiple departments / functions on forecasting and planning practices and procedures. Help develop the regional participants in best practices, process improvement opportunities.
- Assist the CFO in improving the financial acumen of the company’s management teams as it relates to business performance awareness, risk management, and financial returns on investment.
- Assist in creation of presentations as needed for the senior leadership team, bank groups and others.
- Assist with financial due diligence and prepare financial modeling on prospective business acquisitions and special financial and business-related studies.
- Support annual audit reporting needs, such as Management Discussion and Analysis.
- As requested, provide treasury functions support regarding free cash flow, working capital, liquidity forecasting and ad-hoc financials as needed.
- Be proactive in meeting with functional leaders to understand key activities in their functions and be able to correlate that back to financial results. Identify gaps where they may exist and address with the leadership team and functional leaders
- Perform other finance and Company duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Finance or Accounting Degree required.
- 3-5 years of FP&A and business management experience.
- Strong computer skills with a strong background in computer applications. This position requires exceptional Excel skills due to the number of models, etc.
- Experience with NetSuite and NetSuite Planning & Budgeting a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to accuracy.
- Ability to work well in a team environment with a wide variety of personnel from multiple disciplines.
- Prior experience creating, analyzing and presenting complex corporate budgets, forecasting, modeling.
- High energy and enthusiasm with a desire and willingness to be held accountable for meeting deadline and reporting requirements.
- Can serve as an effective individual contributor and proactive team member.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
