Controller (1726)
The Controller directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares management reports, including financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of ownership. The Controller is responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, insurance, treasury, bonding, and financial systems. The position actively participates in monthly project reviews, IT projects, and sales tracking. This role reports directly to the President.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
- Responsible for managing and evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department.
- Maintains the company’s financial software and makes recommendations for upgrades, additions and replacements.
- Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, working with the project managers to project the timing of revenues.
- Oversees tax compliance with federal, state, and local non-income taxes. Works with outside tax firms on the preparation and reporting of corporate income tax returns.
- Partners with the CPA firm on the annual review and issuance of annual financial statements.
- Assists owners on various financial matters including company valuation, cash forecasting, long-term commitments and legal matters.
- Evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
- Coordinates the annual renewal of health and wellness benefit offering.
- Works with the financial advisor for the 401k plan on fund selection, enrollment and education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major
- CPA preferred
- 7+ years of experience in financial management
- Excellent computer skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Knowledge of Job Cost oriented ERP and Excel or similar Construction based accounting package a plus
Salary $100-140,000 based on experience level plus outstanding corporate benefits
