Is It Time to Find a New Job? [QUIZ]

We’ve all been there.

Maybe it’s the culture; maybe it’s your boss. Maybe you’re stuck into a position devoid of opportunity and growth. Whatever your reasons, you may be locked in an internal tug-of-war, constantly weighing the benefits of staying with the opportunities of a new career path.

If so, take our true/false quiz below to determine if you’re in need of a new job:

  1. I feel respected and valued by my colleagues, superiors, and the broader organization.
  2. I have a clear view of my career path and have resources to help guide my development.
  3. I enjoy the work I do 80% of the time.
  4. I am constantly challenged to maximize or broaden my skillsets.
  5. I am compensated fairly by industry and regional standards.

If you answered no to all of the above, then clearly it may be time to pursue a job search. However, most of you will likely have a few yes answers as well.

Maybe you enjoy the work you do most of the time but don’t feel respected by your peers. Or maybe you are constantly challenged in your current role but don’t have the internal support to successfully grow within your organization. So should you stay or should you go?

It all comes down to personal priorities.

Take stock of the values that are most important to you in your career and company. If respect is at the forefront, don’t settle for a culture that denies you this quality. If you want to be passionate about your career but don’t like your day-to-day duties, start looking for new roles that emphasize the work you love to do.

If you are still unsure whether you want to start actively pursuing new job opportunities, it never hurts to look. Spruce up your resume and reach out to a professional recruiter in your industry or keep an eye on online job postings to ensure you’re at least aware of the opportunities around you. When the time is right, you’ll know it, and by then you’ll already have a leg-up on the job search process.
