The Manager, External Reporting & Technical Accounting is responsible for the preparation of all external reporting documents. This position is also responsible for developing and updating the Company’s accounting policies and procedures relating to a wide variety of accounting issues, as well as reaching conclusions on complex accounting issues and transactions. The individual is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Preparation of annual and quarterly reports to external parties including footnote disclosures, Compliance Certificates and any other financial documents requested
- Work with external auditors to address accounting issues and assist with the audit of the annual report
- Impairment testing of goodwill and indefinite lived intangible assets
- Purchase accounting for acquisitions, including determination and allocation of purchase price
- Determine if divestitures qualify for classification as discontinued operations
- Oversee the accounting for the company’s derivatives and hedging program
- Provide guidance on and keep current on all internal financial policies
- Prepare position papers on complex accounting transactions
- Work with business units to resolve accounting issues as they arise
- Remain current and proactive on new accounting guidance affecting the company, informing management of potential impacts of accounting developments from standard setters as they emerge
- Assist in the interpretation and implementation of new technical accounting standards and pronouncements
- Manage complex financial analysis and special projects as needed
